INET Conference Boggles the Mind

No doubt, we’ve all been to conferences that are both stimulating and exhausting at the same time. The George Soros backed Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) inaugural conference that took place April 8-10 at Kings College, Cambridge, UK (“the house of Keynes”) stands out as a major achievement. I felt privileged to be there. Among the many notable presentations and stimulating conversation, one speech stands out in my mind: Sir Adair Turner’s keynote address. Sir Turner is the Chairman of the FSA and known for his sharp mind, clear understanding of the issues, and straight talk. Leadership like this is all too rare, making his speech a “must view” for interested observers and policy makers alike.
